North Star Radiology is conveniently located within the Surgery Center of Fairbanks. Our modern, patient-focused facility was designed to make imaging visits comfortable, efficient, and easy to navigate.

The location is also home to Fairbanks’ first 3T MRI scanner, offering advanced imaging close to home.

What is a Radiologist?

A radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in interpreting diagnostic images, including X-rays, ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammography, and nuclear medicine exams. Radiologists complete extensive training that includes medical school, a clinical internship, a radiology residency, and often additional fellowship training in a specific area of radiology.

Radiologists work closely with referring physicians to help determine the most appropriate imaging exam, interpret the results, and provide a detailed report that supports diagnosis and treatment decisions. Some radiologists also perform minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, such as biopsies. Interventional radiologists receive additional training to diagnose and treat certain conditions using advanced image-guided techniques.

North Star Radiology’s physicians are board-certified by the American Board of Radiology, and many have completed subspecialty fellowship training. Through secure digital imaging systems and high-speed connectivity, our radiologists can collaborate across locations and provide timely, clinically relevant interpretations.
